With very little street-level retail business to draw passers-by, the area around the medical center offers few enticements for pedestrians. With both the School of Medicine and Yale-New Haven Hospital contemplating or implementing new construction, retail is part of the mix, as are upgrades to a dozen intersections not known for being friendly to pedestrians.
