Class of 1989: 20th reunion
A small but spirited gathering of six members of the YSM class of 1989 enjoyed an evening together in New Haven on June 6th. I thought I would briefly share what we are all up to. Steve Knight is the managing partner/president of Fidelity Biosciences, the private equity group within Fidelity that invests in biotechnology. LisaQuattrocki Knight (yes, they are married) is an instructor at Harvard and an assistant psychiatrist at McLean. Their three daughters, Elianna, 10, Christina, 9, and Olivia, 7, accompanied them to New Haven and patiently ate their chicken nuggets while the adults reminisced. Chinwe Ukomadu is a hepatologist at Brigham and Women's Hospital. His wife, Emily Oken, is also a physician and nutritional epidemiologist, working at the Women's Health Clinic at Brigham. They live in Massachusetts with their son Obioma, 5, and daughter Amara, 3. Anita Goodrich Licata is married to Tom Licata: their household includes Thomas Jr., 14; Isabel, 12; their dog, Buttercup; and a cat named Naz. They live in Vermont, where Anita recently launched a thriving dermatology private practice after many years at the University of Vermont. Dora Wang lives in Albuquerque, N.M., with her husband, Christopher Calott, an architect, and their six-year-old daughter, Zoe Calott-Wang. Dora is an assistant professor of psychiatry at the University of New Mexico and the host of Duke City Magazine, a monthly television program. She spends much of her time writing; we were excited to hear that she has nearly completed her memoir, which will be published in early 2010 by Riverhead Books, a division of Penguin. Alexandra Flather Morgan Cist is in critical care medicine and is also a medical ethicist at Massachusetts General Hospital; she lives in the Boston area with her husband and two kids. As for me, I am a professor of neurology and epidemiology at Columbia University and associate chair of neurology. When I am not at work, I enjoy showing my artwork at several galleries in the New York area (see www.mamaroneckartistsguild.org) and piping (see www.kcpbnj.com). My wife, Vinita Sehgal (ysm ‘90), is a transplant nephrologist at Mount Sinai; we have three wonderful sons, Devin, 12, Ravi, 10, and Kiran, 4. It would be great to see more of our classmates for the 25th.
