Karen N. Peart is a senior communications officer in the Office of Public Affairs & Communications. She has handled public affairs and strategic media planning for the School of Medicine and Science Hill for more than a decade. She currently focuses on medical school departments such as pediatrics, cardiology, the Child Study Center, geriatrics, ophthalmology, obstetrics, gynecology and reproductive sciences, and the School of Nursing. Before coming to Yale, Peart was an award-winning education writer and editor at Scholastic/New York Times Upfront Magazine (formerly Scholastic UPDATE). She has also worked for public relations agencies in New York City where she managed multi-million dollar product launch campaigns for pharmaceutical clients such as SmithKline Beecham, Wyeth-Ayerst and Rhone-Poulenc-Rorer. Pearthas a Master of Science degree from Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism and a Juris Doctorate from the University of Connecticut School of Law.
